I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing the wonderful selection of entries\, which was the largest number ever received for this exhibition. Given the gallery’s space constraints\, I strove to be as inclusive as possible across genres and media… The selection process is always difficult\, and I extend my warmest congratulations to the exhibiting artists. [The artwork] truly stood out.” \nThe 2026 National Juried Show is on view throughout the Sargent\, Hills and Hartson galleries. Through both abstraction and representation\, the exhibition examines what it means to release certainty and move beyond familiar boundaries — emotionally\, materially\, and conceptually. \nThe exhibition invites viewers into spaces shaped by memory\, landscape\, identity\, atmosphere\, and process. Each artist approaches painting as a form of exploration\, embracing openness\, vulnerability\, and the unexpected as essential parts of creative practice. Together\, the works reflect a shared interest in the freedom that can emerge when control is loosened\, and intuition takes hold. \nBenjamin Herbert’s paintings explore color as a dynamic and immersive material\, examining its ability to shape atmosphere\, perception\, and surrounding space. Leaning into abstraction\, his works create immersive emotional landscapes that invite contemplation and encourage viewers to slow down within an increasingly fragmented\, image-saturated culture. \nKathleen Gerdon Archer’s work explores color\, gesture\, and emotional landscape through layered compositions that reflect her continued interest in the natural world and what is left behind. Incorporating hidden birds in movement and migration\, her paintings evoke memory\, transition\, and quiet connection\, balancing sensitivity\, motion\, and reflection through an intuitive process. \nJanice Colby’s paintings are infused with emotion\, warmth\, beauty\, happiness\, and playfulness — positive human emotions that she describes as “a balm for the soul.” Colby’s paintings invite viewers into moments of delight\, curiosity\, and emotional connection. \nTogether\, LET GO offers a contemplative experience that encourages viewers to embrace uncertainty\, imagination\, and new ways of seeing. \nThe Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC)\, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization\, nurtures excellence in the arts through exhibitions\, workshops\, residencies and vibrant cultural events for its members and the public. DESCRIPTION:Hammond Castle Museum welcomes guests to tour the many rooms of the home and laboratory of John Hays Hammond Jr.\, renowned as one of the most prolific American inventors of the 20th century and famously known as the Father of Radio Control. \nThroughout the 2026 season guests can also enjoy a completely updated Invention Room\, showcasing exciting new perspectives on Hammond’s work as a scientist\, inventor and engineer\, as well as a brand-new set of rotating exhibits\, including “Inside the Faraday Cage: The Science of Things that Aren’t So” in the spring and summer and “Brave Too Much: The Legend of John Coffee Hays” in the fall and winter. We offer two options for daily admission: Guided and Self-Guided tours. \nGuided Tours:\nLed by a member of Hammond Castle Museum’s talented tours staff\, Guided Tours of the Museum last approximately 35-40 minutes and cover basic information about the history of the building and its inhabitants. Major areas covered by the tour staff include parts of the former Laboratory\, the vast Great Hall\, and the breathtaking Courtyard. \nAfter the guided portion of the tour\, visitors may explore the many smaller rooms and exhibit spaces in the former Hammond residence. \nSelf-Guided Tours:\nExperience Hammond Castle Museum at your own pace with our flexible arrival times for Self-Guided Tours! Your ticket grants you entry anytime within the Morning or Afternoon session times\, based upon your selection\, ensuring you can arrive stress-free and enjoy your visit to the fullest. \nMorning Session: 9:00 am – 11:45 am\nAfternoon Session: 11:45 am – 2:30 pm \nPlease note: the last entrance into the Museum is at 2:45 pm sharp. The Museum and Grounds close promptly at 3:30 pm. We recommend planning at least 60 minutes to explore the grounds and interior galleries of the Museum. \nThe Hammond Castle Museum is a historic landmark built in the late 1920s\, and as such is not handicapped accessible and presents challenges for visitors with mobility impairments\, as it features numerous stairs.

SUMMARY:Newburyport Art presents May Exhibitions at 65 Water Street
DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art (NAA) presents three new shows opening in the month of May! \nSoft Structures is a group exhibition that explores fibers and fibrous material as process and metaphor. This exhibit features over 80 artworks in a variety of media including drawing\, painting\, sculpture\, weaving\, embroidery\, quilting\, collage\, mixed media and more.\nThis exhibit is on view in the first-floor Sargent Gallery and second-floor Hartson Gallery. \nFOLIA is a collaborative exhibition featuring works by Amesbury artists Amy Vander Els & Heather Karp. This exhibit explores the quiet beauty and joyful rhythm of leaves and the symbolic meaning behind many that speaks of perseverance\, resilience and hope. Thirty-six artworks are displayed amongst spring greenery in the first-floor Hills Gallery. Amy and Heather will give a free artist talk on Thursday\, May 21st from 6:00-7:00pm\, concluding with Q&A. \nThe 11th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Garden Exhibition debuted on May 1st\, and will remain on view year-round until April 2027. At nearly 3\,000 square feet\, the Range Lights Sculpture Garden resides behind the historic NAA and is seen and visited by hundreds of people every week. This year’s exhibition features 16 pieces by 10 local and regional artists. The participating artists include; Jeffrey Briggs\, Lindley Briggs\, Sarah Burns and Mike Platt\, Alexis Guieb-Alimbuyuguen\, Andrew Henschel\, Mae Kenny\, Evan Ralph\, Michael Updike and Raynor Warner. \nA reception for FOLIA and Soft Structures will be held on Saturday\, May 2nd from 4-6pm\, with the 11th Annual Sculpture Exhibit reception beginning at 3:00pm\, including a Best in Show award at 3:30pm.
