They meet outdoors once a week to work in their variety of mediums\, to support each other and discuss critiques. DESCRIPTION:Gloucester MA— Rocky Neck Art Colony is pleased to present the group exhibition Interconnected at Cove Gallery\, 37 Rocky Neck Ave. The exhibition features five artists who live and work on Cape Ann: Nic Bannerman (curator)\, Jennifer K Brown\, Barbe Ennis\, Kelle Louaillier\, and Jennifer Pinck. \nWorks on canvas and paper installed alongside ceramic and mixed-media sculptures invite viewers to consider their place in a larger\, complex\, and interconnected world. This group of artists is connected by their deliberate choices of inspiration\, subject matter\, and technique. Interconnected is influenced by a deep appreciation for the community that is Cape Ann\, a place inextricably connected to its history. \nThe public is invited to celebrate the creativity of the artists at the Opening Reception on Thursday\, July 23\, 2026\, from 4-7 PM. DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art (NAA) is pleased to announce Chasing the Light: an exhibit by The Newburyport Ten & Band of Brushes\, on view from Thursday\, July 30 – Saturday\, August 22\, 2026. These two groups exhibit annually in the Hills Gallery as part of the art gallery’s Featured Interest Groups. \nThe Newburyport Ten and Band of Brushes paint en plein air (a French expression meaning painting outdoors)\, sharing a love of nature and paint in oil\, watercolor\, pastel and acrylic. DESCRIPTION:Discover the magic when individual objects\, no matter how similar or different\, are joined into an entirely new work at the Cove Gallery in Rocky Neck \nAugust 27\, 2026 – September 20\, 2026 Cove Gallery\nOpening reception: Thursday\, August 27 from 5 to 8pm \nGloucester\, MA — The act of assembly reveals\, to the artist\, new forms\, new relationships of color and shape. Perhaps another unit can be placed over here\, or a new piece added there\, giving a fresh and unexpected whole. These works by five Rocky Neck members explore assemblage\, in its broadest sense. Using materials ranging from wire\, corrugated cardboard\, reclaimed wood and hardware\, to toy figures\, rocks\, and recycled flameworked glass the pieces become\, in the hands of the contributing artists\, surprising and delightful 3-D works. \nThe artists in this show include: \nDavid Covert has been involved in art making for nearly fifty years. Basically self-taught\, by virtue of continuing to draw\, paint\, and occasionally sculpt since the late sixties. Much of his work has been in the two-dimensional arts\, dominated by drawing and painting and printmaking. His training has been mostly informal\, interspersed with individual classes at Boston area art schools including the Museum School of the MFA\, Mass College of Art\, and the late DeCordova Museum school. He settled in Beverly\, Massachusetts\, where he continues to work with ad agencies and individual clients. In between he still finds time to create original artwork made from scrap materials. Her assemblages incorporate objects collected during her travels. Her work begins with a found frame. She composes intuitively using an evolving collection of jewelry\, watch parts\, hardware\, book covers and other objects that she has collected over time. Some pieces have personal history\, while others are chosen for their beauty or character or the story they suggest. She transforms these elements into compositions I call “jewels”. What was once discarded or put aside becomes precious. She creates these works to encourage others to look for beauty in the ordinary and overlooked objects and to recognize the potential in everyday objects and to\, hopefully\, inspire curiosity\, reflection and a deeper appreciation for the unexpected. Marion earned her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work is held in private collections in New York City\, Cape Ann and beyond. \nJudy Robinson-Cox creates miniature shadowboxes\, collages and small assembled sculptures using a variety of found objects and tiny plastic people. She creates these light-hearted artworks to make people smile and appreciate the world in which we live. She attended NYU School of Fine Arts and earned a BFA from the University of Connecticut with additional classes at Montserrat College of Art. SUMMARY:Newburyport Art presents May Exhibitions at 65 Water Street
DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art (NAA) presents three new shows opening in the month of May! \nSoft Structures is a group exhibition that explores fibers and fibrous material as process and metaphor. This exhibit features over 80 artworks in a variety of media including drawing\, painting\, sculpture\, weaving\, embroidery\, quilting\, collage\, mixed media and more.\nThis exhibit is on view in the first-floor Sargent Gallery and second-floor Hartson Gallery. \nFOLIA is a collaborative exhibition featuring works by Amesbury artists Amy Vander Els & Heather Karp. This exhibit explores the quiet beauty and joyful rhythm of leaves and the symbolic meaning behind many that speaks of perseverance\, resilience and hope. Thirty-six artworks are displayed amongst spring greenery in the first-floor Hills Gallery. Amy and Heather will give a free artist talk on Thursday\, May 21st from 6:00-7:00pm\, concluding with Q&A. \nThe 11th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Garden Exhibition debuted on May 1st\, and will remain on view year-round until April 2027. At nearly 3\,000 square feet\, the Range Lights Sculpture Garden resides behind the historic NAA and is seen and visited by hundreds of people every week. This year’s exhibition features 16 pieces by 10 local and regional artists. The participating artists include; Jeffrey Briggs\, Lindley Briggs\, Sarah Burns and Mike Platt\, Alexis Guieb-Alimbuyuguen\, Andrew Henschel\, Mae Kenny\, Evan Ralph\, Michael Updike and Raynor Warner. \nA reception for FOLIA and Soft Structures will be held on Saturday\, May 2nd from 4-6pm\, with the 11th Annual Sculpture Exhibit reception beginning at 3:00pm\, including a Best in Show award at 3:30pm. SUMMARY:Newburyport Art presents May Exhibitions at 65 Water Street
DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art (NAA) presents three new shows opening in the month of May! \nSoft Structures is a group exhibition that explores fibers and fibrous material as process and metaphor. This exhibit features over 80 artworks in a variety of media including drawing\, painting\, sculpture\, weaving\, embroidery\, quilting\, collage\, mixed media and more.\nThis exhibit is on view in the first-floor Sargent Gallery and second-floor Hartson Gallery. \nFOLIA is a collaborative exhibition featuring works by Amesbury artists Amy Vander Els & Heather Karp. This exhibit explores the quiet beauty and joyful rhythm of leaves and the symbolic meaning behind many that speaks of perseverance\, resilience and hope. Thirty-six artworks are displayed amongst spring greenery in the first-floor Hills Gallery. Amy and Heather will give a free artist talk on Thursday\, May 21st from 6:00-7:00pm\, concluding with Q&A. \nThe 11th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Garden Exhibition debuted on May 1st\, and will remain on view year-round until April 2027. At nearly 3\,000 square feet\, the Range Lights Sculpture Garden resides behind the historic NAA and is seen and visited by hundreds of people every week. This year’s exhibition features 16 pieces by 10 local and regional artists. The participating artists include; Jeffrey Briggs\, Lindley Briggs\, Sarah Burns and Mike Platt\, Alexis Guieb-Alimbuyuguen\, Andrew Henschel\, Mae Kenny\, Evan Ralph\, Michael Updike and Raynor Warner. \nA reception for FOLIA and Soft Structures will be held on Saturday\, May 2nd from 4-6pm\, with the 11th Annual Sculpture Exhibit reception beginning at 3:00pm\, including a Best in Show award at 3:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Discover the magic when individual objects\, no matter how similar or different\, are joined into an entirely new work at the Cove Gallery in Rocky Neck \nAugust 27\, 2026 – September 20\, 2026 Cove Gallery\nOpening reception: Thursday\, August 27 from 5 to 8pm \nGloucester\, MA — The act of assembly reveals\, to the artist\, new forms\, new relationships of color and shape. Perhaps another unit can be placed over here\, or a new piece added there\, giving a fresh and unexpected whole. These works by five Rocky Neck members explore assemblage\, in its broadest sense. Using materials ranging from wire\, corrugated cardboard\, reclaimed wood and hardware\, to toy figures\, rocks\, and recycled flameworked glass the pieces become\, in the hands of the contributing artists\, surprising and delightful 3-D works. \nThe artists in this show include: \nDavid Covert has been involved in art making for nearly fifty years. Basically self-taught\, by virtue of continuing to draw\, paint\, and occasionally sculpt since the late sixties. Much of his work has been in the two-dimensional arts\, dominated by drawing and painting and printmaking. His training has been mostly informal\, interspersed with individual classes at Boston area art schools including the Museum School of the MFA\, Mass College of Art\, and the late DeCordova Museum school. Her assemblages incorporate objects collected during her travels. Her work begins with a found frame. She composes intuitively using an evolving collection of jewelry\, watch parts\, hardware\, book covers and other objects that she has collected over time. Some pieces have personal history\, while others are chosen for their beauty or character or the story they suggest. She transforms these elements into compositions I call “jewels”. What was once discarded or put aside becomes precious. She creates these works to encourage others to look for beauty in the ordinary and overlooked objects and to recognize the potential in everyday objects and to\, hopefully\, inspire curiosity\, reflection and a deeper appreciation for the unexpected. Marion earned her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work is held in private collections in New York City\, Cape Ann and beyond. \nJudy Robinson-Cox creates miniature shadowboxes\, collages and small assembled sculptures using a variety of found objects and tiny plastic people. She creates these light-hearted artworks to make people smile and appreciate the world in which we live.
