Justin Hayward, frontman of the Moody Blues and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, returns to Rockport! He and renowned guitarist Mike Dawes will perform the band’s beloved hits, such as “Tuesday Afternoon” and “Nights in White Satin,” as well as deep cuts, solo material, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
Justin Hayward, renowned as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for The Moody Blues, has shaped the landscape of rock music for over five decades. As the creative force behind classics like Nights in White Satin, Question, Tuesday Afternoon, and Your Wildest Dreams, his distinctive voice and timeless compositions have resonated across generations.
Hayward’s journey began in his teens, performing in local bands before joining The Moody Blues in 1966. His songwriting took off with Fly Me High and soared with the band’s groundbreaking album Days of Future Passed (1967), which set the foundation for progressive rock. Over the years, The Moody Blues released a series of influential albums, including In Search of the Lost Chord (1968), A Question of Balance (1970), and Long Distance Voyager (1981), selling over 55 million albums worldwide. The band’s success led to their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Beyond The Moody Blues, Hayward has built an impressive solo career, beginning with Songwriter (1977). His haunting ballad Forever Autumn, from Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, became an international hit in 1978. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, he released multiple solo albums, including Night Flight (1980), Moving Mountains (1985), and The View from the Hill (1996). His 2013 album Spirits of the Western Sky and the Spirits…Live concert DVD topped charts, showcasing his artistic longevity.
Hayward has received two Ivor Novello Awards, the ASCAP Golden Note Award, and an OBE in 2022. He continues to tour globally, performing solo and alongside artists such as Christopher Cross. In 2024, he embarks on his Blue World Tour, proving that his passion for music remains as strong as ever.
