SUMMARY:An Evening with author Geoffrey Kelly (Plymouth)
DESCRIPTION:Thirteen Perfect Fugitives – The True Story Of The World’s Largest Art Heist\, as told by the FBI Agent who investigated the case. On March 18\, 1990\, thirteen works of art were plucked from the walls of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston by two subjects posing as police officers. Over the next eighty-one minutes\, they stole some of the world’s most valuable artwork\, including a rare Vermeer and Rembrandt’s only known seascape; a total loss estimated at over $1 billion. \nFor more than two decades\, Geoffrey Kelly\, one of the original members of the FBI’s elite Art Crime Team\, was the lead investigator into the heist. Rather than working the case as a traditional stolen property crime\, however\, he framed it as a fugitive investigation. Thirteen fugitives\, to be exact. \nIn this captivating true crime story\, Geoffrey Kelly shares his insights and theories about the case\, and recounts his journey to apprehend those thirteen perfect fugitives. Books will be available for purchase at the event. \n

SUMMARY:Carbon Leaf at The Spire Center (Plymouth)
DESCRIPTION:Carbon Leaf’s fifteenth studio album\, Time is the Playground is both a call to action and an embrace of the moment. They first earned national recognition with “The Boxer\,” a song that won the American Music Awards 2002 New Music Award and made Carbon Leaf the first unsigned band to perform before millions on the AMAs. \n

SUMMARY:Spire Lobby Series: Monica Rizzio (Plymouth)
DESCRIPTION:This series showcases local and regional musicians in a relaxed and intimate setting. The lobby is transformed into a 70-seat showcase lounge! \nWith a perspective equally influenced by her Texas roots and her Cape Cod home\, Americana singer-songwriter Monica Rizzio has emerged as one of the finest talents in the East Coast music scene. Monica released her debut album\, aptly named Washashore Cowgirl\, in 2016; where it was Monica’s solo introduction after a decade in the trio Tripping Lily\, Sunshine is Free is her expansion — after time spent on the road\, she realized it was time for her to start collaborating again and recorded the album in Nashville with producer Michael Rinne and a stacked lineup of guest musicians. Throughout the eleven tracks on Sunshine Is Free\, Monica appreciates the little things in life and looks for silver linings where necessary. It’s clear she has a keen ability to connect; her songs are often autobiographical but delivered through a fictional approach that aids in creating a universal experience for the listener — whether it’s expressed using her trademark sense of humor or with such striking honesty that the pain in her voice is tangible. \nPresented by The Antonia and Vladimir Kulaev Cultural Heritage Fund.

SUMMARY:Paul Thorn at The Spire Center (Plymouth)
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to songwriting\, less is more\, and simplicity is strength. Just ask Paul Thorn\, who’s spent three decades turning soulful grooves and small syllables into songs that pack a big wallop. Maybe he learned the power of minimalism from his years as a pro boxer; maybe it just comes naturally. But whether he’s targeting heads\, hearts\, hips or the occasional funny bone\, he somehow manages to condense large nuggets of wisdom into tight little mantras\, the kind embroiderers stitched onto pillows before internet memes existed. \nThorn’s new album\, Life is Just A Vapor\, contains some beauties: “Life is a vapor\, let’s live it while we can”; “tough times don’t last\, but tough people do” (from “Tough Times Don’t Last”); “any mountain up ahead is just a hill” (from “Old Melodies”). They’re words of advice\, comfort\, support\, encouragement\, often meant to uplift\, especially in times of struggle. \n
