If you take the train on weekends regularly, this update will impact how you navigate your day and travel. Beginning January 3rd, the Commuter Rail will not be servicing North Station on select Friday’s and weekends through April. While the outage will impact travel plans, we’re sharing everything you need to know to help make this transition as smooth and manageable as possible.
Why Is The North Station Weekend Outage Happening?
Although this project may temporarily disrupt select weekend travel, it will ultimately support a more streamlined and dependable Commuter Rail. This project focuses on modernizing and improving the signal system at Tower A. This system controls all train movements into and out of North Station, and the updates will support long-term improvements to Commuter Rail reliability and efficiency.
These enhancements will support future North Station modernization projects, such as the implementation of new drawbridges and the installation of additional train routing.
