Elton John Concert Trains

On 7/27 and 7/28, we’re running special event trains from South Station to Foxboro station for the Elton John concerts at Gillette Stadium!

💲Special Event Train tickets are $20 round-trip
🎫 When purchasing tickets, select the day of your concert (7/27 & 7/28) as tickets are valid for only 1 day
🎟️ Tickets must be purchased in advance via mTicket or at our ticket offices in North, South, or Back Bay stations
⛔ Alcohol consumption is prohibited on trains and in stations
❌ Large items (bags, coolers, & luggage) aren’t permitted

US Open Special Service

Headed to the 2022 U.S. Open Championship at The Country Club in Brookline next week? There will be extra Commuter Rail service running to/from Forest Hills all week via the Providence Line making an additional stop at Forest Hills. The Needham Line will run on a normal schedule.

The United States Golf Association – USGA is encouraging spectators to avoid traffic and parking by taking Commuter Rail, Subway, or Bus to the designated U.S. Open train stations during the event (June 13 – 19).

The USGA will provide complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the following stations and The Country Club:

  • Forest Hills on the Needham Line or Orange Line. There will be extra Commuter Rail service running to/from Forest Hills all week.
  • Reservoir on the Green Line D Branch
  • Cleveland Circle on the Green Line C Branch
  • Boston College on the B Line Branch

CapeFLYER

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can take the Commuter Rail from South Station to Hyannis on Cape Cod. Beat the traffic and take the CapeFLYER instead.

Gillette Stadium

For games, special event trains headed to Gillette Stadium will leave from South Station in Boston, making stops at Back Bay and Dedham Corporate Center, as well as from Providence, Rhode Island with stops at Providence, South Attleboro, Attleboro, and Mansfield before arriving in Foxboro. For up-to-date game-day schedules, just click here.

Service to Gillette Stadium for concerts is on a concert-by-concert basis. If we are running train service for an upcoming concert, details will be available on our special service page.

Fares and Passes

Round trip event tickets to Foxboro are $20.

Please note that regular Commuter Rail tickets and passes (including the $10 weekend pass) are not valid for game or event trains.

Salem Haunted Happenings

Take the train to Salem this Halloween season for Haunted Happenings with $10 weekends!

Commuter Rail Schedule

For the weekends of October 23-24 & October 30-31, additional trains to Salem have been added to the regular Newburyport/Rockport Line to accommodate increased ridership. Weekend passes are available for $10, and allow for unlimited trips on the Commuter Rail on Saturday and Sunday.

Parking

Parking in Salem is limited in October. The MBTA parking garage at Salem station will be closed 6 PM – 11:30 PM on October 31.

Winter Ski Train

Did you know you can take the Commuter Rail to Wachusett Mountain for a day (or night) of skiing? 

On Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays during ski season, the MBTA runs special trains on the Fitchburg Line from North Station that are equipped with ski and snowboard racks. Make sure to take advantage of our $10 weekends tickets for round-trip travel!

Holiday Service

Commuter Rail operates on weekend schedules for most major federal and state holidays. Visit MBTA.com/holidays for holiday service information.

New Year’s Eve Service

On Friday, December 31, fares will be free after 8pm across all MBTA modes. Commuter Rail will run on a regular weekday schedule with the last trains being held until after 12 AM on all lines excluding Needham and Stoughton. For updated departure times, visit your line’s schedule at MBTA.com/cr or visit MBTA.com/holidays.

Bikes, including folding bikes, are not allowed on all inbound trains between 10 AM and 6 PM and on all outbound trains from 4 PM until the end of service.

On New Year’s Day, Commuter Rail will run on a regular weekend schedule.

Boston Marathon

Commuter Rail will run a regular weekday service during the marathon. We are also offering a $15 Marathon Pass for Commuter Rail. The unlimited all-day pass is valid for all Commuter Rail lines and zones. For more info visit https://www.mbta.com/guides/marathon-guide

Come on in for the Celtics

On Wednesday, June 8, the last Haverhill  (225), Lowell (341) & Fitchburg (433) Line trains will depart 15 min after the end of the Celtics game.
