
The first title to appear in the University of Massachusetts Press’s new Sport for Social Change book series, David Faflik’s Segregation Games: Boston, Busing, and the Making of Red Sox Nation (2026) examines the surprising ties in 1970s Boston between the racial segregation of the city’s public education sector and the racial controversies expressed on and off the field of “Red Sox Nation.”
David Faflik is Professor of English at the University of Rhode Island (URI), where he teaches courses in American Literature and American Studies, while contributing to URI’s Honors Program.
