Ellisville Marsh is the environmental gem of America’s oldest town. Its tidal inlet had been maintained for centuries by local residents until restrictive regulations were introduced in the 1980s. In 1991, the No-Name Storm, aka Perfect Storm, blocked the inlet, and it remained untouched for more than a decade. The Friends of Ellisville Marsh, Inc., picked up where the fishermen left off and has maintained the salt marsh’s tidal inlet ever since. Wildlands Trust restricted vehicular access to the property and created Shifting Lots Preserve in 2003. Eric will talk about the unique natural features present at Ellisville Marsh and his organization’s long-standing work to safeguard them.
