Every year in Plymouth on December 22nd, the Old Colony Club, which was established in 1769, “honors the forefathers.” The celebration begins at 6:00 AM with a march by members to the top of Cole’s Hill next to the Massasoit’s statue, followed by a reading of the Mayflower Compact and a ritual firing of the club’s cannon. They fire the cannon 3 times: once to honor the past, once for the present, and once for the future.
