Are you interested participating in some citizen science? Do you like to be outside? Looking for volunteer hours? Become a Herring Count volunteer with Mass Audubon! Herring Counts record the number of herring coming to spawn in our local streams, which helps scientists get a better understanding of how restoration efforts affect the herring population. Time commitment would be for 1 hour, once a week on a scheduled day and time, from April to May.
This event is a training session for Herring Count volunteers at Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary. There will be a PowerPoint presentation and several demonstrations led by a Mass Audubon employee. Please register through the Mass Audubon website Here or on the Event Website.
Additional information: For more resources about herring, please visit the Tidmarsh Herring Count Project Webpage: Tidmarsh Herring Count Project
