Concord Launches American Sign Language–Interpreted Tours
Making Historic Experiences Fully Accessible for Deaf Travelers
Concord is proud to announce the launch of American Sign Language (ASL)–interpreted tours of Concord’s key historic sites, led by licensed local guides and professional interpreters. These accessible private walking tours ensure Deaf visitors can fully engage with Concord’s revolutionary and literary heritage.

ASL Tour Guide Stephanie Dodge
Stephanie Dodge, a nationally certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter with over a decade of experience working in educational, cultural, and public settings, says “ASL‑interpreted tours enable Deaf visitors to not just see and hear Concord’s story—but to feel it. When interpretation is done thoughtfully, every question, nuance, and detail comes alive.”
Why ASL Interpretation Matters
Sign language interpretation is crucial for Deaf individuals to fully participate in travel experiences—allowing them to understand historical information, ask questions, and communicate effectively with tour guides, staff, and other travelers. A professionally certified interpreter ensures accuracy and cultural sensitivity, making these tours fully inclusive. Recent studies show approximately 11 million Americans identify as Deaf or hard of hearing—about 3% of the population—and over 300,000 school‑aged Deaf and hard‑of‑hearing children attend U.S. schools. These figures underscore the importance of accessible cultural and educational programming.
How to Book
Visit Concord’s Visitor Center at 58 Main Street (open online or by appointment year-round) to book ASL-interpreted tours. Private or group tours can be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
