Offers Multiple Tour Times:
Hammond Castle Museum’s Spiritualism Tours by Candlelight are an opportunity to explore the history of the Spiritualist movement and the occult side of the Museum’s past and to see one of the North Shore’s most iconic historical landmarks in a whole new light. From John Hays Hammond Jr.’s attempts to communicate with supernatural entities using a Faraday Cage to Irene Fenton Hammond’s extensive astrological writings under a mysterious pen name, this 55-minute fully guided specialty tour sets the stage for a fun and informative seasonal experience unlike any other—enhanced by the dramatic, Gothic-inspired architecture of the building and the nighttime atmosphere. Electronic candles will be provided for optional use by visitors for the duration of the Spiritualism Tours by Candlelight. Not recommended for children under 13.
New this season: Visitors who purchase tickets to the Spiritualism Tours by Candlelight enjoy additional complimentary access to the Museum’s oceanside terrace lawn for a carry-in/carry-out picnic on the date of their reservation. Picnicking access is available between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm, and will only be available if the weather permits.
