On Monday, September 30, 2024, Winchester Center Station will partially re-open to provide inbound and outbound Lowell Line Commuter Rail service. The $50 million Winchester Center Station Accessibility Improvement Project, which will be completed in winter 2025, includes: full station reconstruction, 2 new, high-level, fully accessible platforms, 3 new elevators, covered stairs, lighting, signage, wayfinding, security cameras, new tracks, and more.
The south half of the new station will be open for use starting September 30th. Follow signs to ride elevators and board trains.
To exit the train in Winchester, ride in the first 2 coaches closest to the leading end of the train. If you are not seated in the first 2 coaches when the train arrives in Winchester, and cannot travel through the train to reach them, let a crew member know. The train will be moved to align the platform with the exit closest to you.
Located in downtown Winchester, this station is the perfect spot to meet with friends and family, shop around, or eat good food at nearby restaurants. The Black Horse Tavern is only 33 ft from the train station and serves pub-style food and classic cocktails. Take a painting or pottery class at Studio on the Common or explore the Griffin Museum of Photography.
