
This year, Boston is an official port for Sail250, and from July 11-16, 2026, the city’s waterfront will welcome historic Tall Ships from across the world for a once-in-a-lifetime Sail Boston 2026 celebration.
From ship parades to firework shows, we have your guide on how to get to all of the festivities along the Boston Harbor. With the Commuter Rail Summer Promotions, it’s the perfect time to gather your friends and family and ride into the city for a historic experience. Parade of Sail
The Parade of Sail is the hallmark event of Sail Boston 2026, taking place throughout the afternoon as the tall ships sail across Boston Harbor. Special ferry service will operate from Hingham to Spectacle Island, while all other ferry services will be suspended. For more information, visit: https://www.mbta.com/guides/parade-sail-guide
Parade of Sail Event Information/Route
The kick-off event for Sail Boston is on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The vessels will start their journey in the Broad Sound, before entering the Boston Harbor, passing through Charlestown, and continuing to their designated docking location.
How to Get to the Viewing Locations
There are various spots to view the parade, both public and reserved.
Public Viewing Locations Accessible by the Commuter Rail
Anywhere along the Harbor will be ideal for viewing, but among some of the best spots include: Seaport District, Downtown Boston Waterfront, and the North End:
Seaport District: visit Fan Pier Park (300 Pier 4 Blvd, Boston, MA), which is .6 mi from South Station
Downtown Boston: Visit Long Wharf (66 Long Wharf, Boston, MA), which is .8 mi from South Station and 1 mi from North Station
North End: visit Christopher Columbus Park (110 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA), which is .8 mi from both South Station and North Station
Mass Mutual Grandstands
If you have a ticket for the grandstand seating at Fish Pier, take the Commuter Rail to South Station; the seating is 1.1 mi from there.

Public Boarding of Ships
Starting after the Parade of Sail on July 11th to July 15th, the Tall Ships will dock at piers across Boston. For the next six days, the captains welcome guests to view and board their vessels. Please note that boarding times are subject to change.
Important Event Information
Ship boarding times and experiences vary by vessel, and times are subject to change per the captain’s orders. Ships are scheduled to be open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, though Boston Fish Pier opens later, at 12:00 PM on July 12 and 2:00 PM from July 13–15. Ships Near North Station
Visit these downtown Boston waterfront destinations, all within a short walk or subway ride from North Station:
Charlestown Navy Yard: take the Orange Line to Community College Station (1.1 mi)

Located in Boston’s Financial District, South Station provides convenient access to many of the ships and other Sail Boston festivities:

Sail Boston Festival
If you are looking for something to do between the ship boardings, visit the Sail Boston Festival for live entertainment, a Sam Adams Beer Garden, Sail Boston swag, stunning views, and to hang out with other maritime enthusiasts!
What to Know About the Festival
The Sail Boston 2026 Festival will be happening at 302 Northern Ave in Boston from Saturday, July 11 to Wednesday, July 15. Stop by between 10 am and 10 pm, with no entry fee or registration required to enjoy the views of the Boston Harbor and the Sail Boston atmosphere.
How to Get to the Sail Boston Fan Festival
Ride the Commuter Rail to South Station. From there, the Fan Festival is 1.3 miles from the station. You can also take the Silver Line from South Station to the World Trade Center stop, which is 0.4 miles from Northern Avenue. If you are taking the Commuter Rail to North Station, transfer to the Red Line to go to South Station, where you can follow the directions above.

Sail Boston Firework Show
You won’t want to miss the Sail Boston Firework Shows. To celebrate the 250th anniversary, fireworks will illuminate Boston Harbor to kick off and wrap up the six-day celebration.
What to Know About the Fireworks
On Saturday, July 11th, and Wednesday, July 15th, there will be a fireworks show at Fan Pier. The show is scheduled to start at 9:15 pm.
How to Get to the Fireworks Display
The fireworks show will be visible from various points around Boston Harbor. To get close to the action, take the Commuter Rail to South Station. From there, you can find a place to watch around the harbor. However, if you want a prime viewing location, head to Fan Pier (.6 mi from South Station).
Crew and Cadet Parade
Stop by on Monday, July 13th, to welcome crews from across the world to Boston! This 1.3-mile parade route starts at noon at the Leader Bank Pavilion in the Seaport District and ends at Christopher Columbus Park in the North End around 2 pm.
What to Know About the Parade Route
The Parade will start at Leader Bank Pavilion in the Seaport, before turning left onto Atlantic Ave. From there, the parade will continue onto Seaport Boulevard, passing the Commonwealth pier, before crossing the Evelyn Moakley Bridge. The parade will then turn right onto Atlantic Ave, and remain on that road before reaching Christopher Columbus Park in the North End.
How to Get to the Parade Route
Ride the Commuter Rail to South Station. From there, you are approximately 1.2 mi from the start of the parade at Leader Bank Pavilion and .08 mi from the end location at Christopher Columbus Park.
If you are more interested in viewing the end of the parade, take the Commuter Rail into North Station, which is .8 mi from Christopher Columbus Park.
The Silver Line from South Station does have stops closer to the start of the parade, but its typical service route will be diverted due to the parade. Visit MBTA.com for more information and live service updates to help you plan your route accurately.
