How to Read a Schedule

Commuter Rail trains operate on a fixed schedule. Each train has a unique number and departs from every station at a specific, scheduled time.

Each line follows its own schedule. Weekday service (Monday–Friday) runs on the same schedule each day, while weekends and holidays follow a different schedule.

PICK THE RIGHT SCHEDULE

  • Choose your Commuter Rail Line (e.g., Kingston, Lowell)
  • A indicates there may be a delay or service issue. More details can be viewed on the Line page.

  • Outbound = heading away from Boston

PICK YOUR TRAIN

  • Each row is a train with a specific departure time
  • Look across to find what time it reaches your destination
  • A “—” means that train doesn’t stop at that station

WATCH FOR FLAG STOPS

  • Some smaller stations are designated as “flag stops” and are marked with an “f” before the listed time for clarification.
  • Signal the conductor or wait where visible so the train stops
